This was a wonderful banana pudding recipe! My fiance said it tasted like his grandmother's. Who doesn't want to hear that?

Based upon the feedback from others and my experience with other pudding recipes, I changed the flour to 2 Tblspn corn starch and it thickened to the perfect consistency.
For those who questioned how long to cook it, once it starts bubbling, cook it for one more minute to make sure the cornstarch is thoroughly cooked.

The custerd was good and worked pretty much like it said in the recipe, however I felt the recipie had a little too much guess work, mabey in part because I never made this from scratch. However everyone loved it all the same.

Simply put, the custard does not thicken. I suspect that there is not enough thickening agent called for. I've seen similar recipies and they call for 4 times the amount of flour as this one. Other than that, it tastes great. I give it one star because the pudding shouldn't be a liquid after you spend 40 minutes (although, according to the recipe it should only take 20 minutes over a double-boiler making a simple custard. Perhaps it is supposed to be like that.

I love banana pudding and have tried many recipes. This one is absolutely the best.
I ended up making a double batch because I like more pudding and wafers than anything.

Maybe we have the same Grandmother because this recipe makes banana pudding just like my Grandma's. Brings back great memories of growing up in North Carolina! Not a difficult recipe to follow either.
