Ingredients

  • 4 hot dogs with about 40 calories and 1g fat or less each, each cut into 5 segments
  • 16 cherry tomatoes
  • 16 pineapple chunks
  • Special equipment: 4 skewers

Directions

Cook's Note: If using wooden skewers, soak in water for 20 minutes to prevent burning.

Skewer hot dog pieces, tomatoes, and pineapple chunks alternately onto 4 skewers.

Spray a grill pan lightly with nonstick spray, and bring to medium-high heat.

Add skewers and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Flip skewers over the grill pan, and cook until the tomatoes and pineapple have softened and are slightly blackened, another 3 to 4 minutes.

Once cool enough to handle, pull the food off the sticks and eat!

This was a delicious, satisfying low cal meal. The combination of ingredients were perfect for my families taste. Most importantly, this was an extreamly healthy meal. I purchased low fat, organic hotdogs. A slaw made with cabbage, carrots, apples and onions rounded the meal out. Will definitely make these hot dogs again.

I like my hot dogs the good ol' way...Chicago style. Not a fan of fruit with my hot dog although I'm sure others will enjoy this. I could see using chicken chunks with this recipe.
