Absolutely AMAZING!!! I made some variations because I didn't have all the ingredients on hand. I used butter flavored Crisco and 2tbs of water instead of butter. I BARELY used any baking soda because I hate the after taste of it. I followed another reviewer's recommendation and made my own buttermilk with 3 tbs milk and 1 tbs white vinegar. GENIUS! Anyone who made these and had problems was doing it wrong.
    SO GOOD!

Amazing! My beloved said they were the best cookies she's had in a VERY long time! Follow recipe as is..and don't be turned off by the sour milk smell the buttermilk glaze makes while cooking..its SO tasty when done! I sprinkled top with raw sugar

Followed the recipe almost exactly, I didn't have buttermilk but I seen someone recommending to put 1 tbsp white vinegar and 3 tbsp milk for the buttermilk substitution also I only used 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda as someone else suggested. The cookies turned out fabulous for me!! rolled up the extra dough in waxed paper and going to roll the outside in sprinkles and cut into medium circles also I think I'm going to try adding some sour cream or cream cheese next time(just something I want to try..

Truly the best recipe. I read almost all the other reviews and ALMOST added some extra sugar & vanilla because we usually like sweet cookies. Some of the other reviews said that the cookies were not sweet enough. NOT TRUE. This recipe really is PERFECT. I even followed the buttermilk glazing right before baking. I used the 1 tablespoon of white vinegar + milk version for the buttermilk. Texture is perfect: slightly crispy outside, fluffy on inside. TIPS: Follow the measurements exactly (with dry ingredients, level off your scoops, make sure butter is softened at room temperature before combining with sugar, make small balls of dough and space them 3 rows/ 4 cookies each row, use parchment paper. Save yourself some reading. Just try the recipe AS IS the first time because you WILL love it. Just tweak it next time to better suit your personal taste (lemon zest, etc.

This is a keeper, taste like tea cakes to me, thin and crunchy on out side and soft in the middle.

This is a great recipe for simple flavor ( generally it tastes milky , easy-to-get ingredients and great treat for family.

The only problem I met is : The aftertaste of the Baking Soda is quite strong..... But with a cup of tea or coffee it would get neglected.

It's quite sugary cookies and I like to bake it through to make it crunchy all over.
