This recipe is a winner. If you want to kick it up a knotch, add in citrus zest. The citrus flavor is great for the warmer season. Also, I was out of baking soda and the cookie still came out great! I feel like I just accomplished something

These were just what I was looking for, a dough that I didn't have to roll out and cut that yielded soft, slightly chewy sugar cookies with a subtle vanilla sugar flavor. The dough was easy to work with, I rolled it into balls and pressed them out almost to the thickness I wanted them to be, they really didn't spread much at all. My cookies were medium to large size so I did cook them for about 9 minutes. I took them out right as I started to see the edges darken. The key is to take them out before they are actually done cooking because they continue to "cook" and firm up for a couple of minutes after you take the out. If you wait until they are all the way done to take the out of the oven you will end up with hard cookies.

I don't know what happened but when I made these they were burned on the bottom. I cooked them for 8 minutes too. My daughter was horribly disappointed. :(

I have never really been fond of sugar cookies (I know I'm weird, I am also not a chocolate fan but I needed a sugar cookie recipe to make some mini fruit pizzas. These were the best sugar cookies I have ever eaten and they made AWESOME mini fruit pizzas. This recipe is going into my cookie stash!!

Perfect for a rainy day-after school treat! Made these with my 8 and 5 year old kids. They had fun, and these are some of the best and easiest I've ever made! Light and crisp on outside, and chewy in center, MMMM! Thanks Foodnetwork, you came through again!

This recipe worked really well...though the cookies were a little floury. I substituted 3/4 cup cocoa powder and only used 2 1/4 cups flour to make a chocolate version and my parents loved them!

These were hands down THE BEST sugar cookies I have ever made. I was skeptical because the recipes online I choose are not that great in the end, but these were outstanding. My entire family is in love with them. Maybe it's the buttermilk addition because I've never heard of it. I followed the recipe exactly, and set the timer depending on size. USE THIS
