It was a great fun easy rcipe to make with my son and daughter. The only confusing part was 2 sticks of butter or (16oz because the butter that I use is 6oz per stick, so altogether I only used 12 oz of butter instead of 16oz. I also found that the light molases worked better than the dark molasses. Otherwise it was a great recipe

I found the dimensions hard to understand and the roof of my house ended up too big. Otherwise it tasted great and my kids had fun putting it together.

The dough for this recipe is easy to handle and sturdy when baked. I made five houses using this recipe and am very satisfied with the result. I ran out of dark molasses and used a mild molasses as a replacement. I discovered that I liked the lighter color and flavor better. There was one confusing part of this recipe. The original recipe says 16 oz or two sticks of butter. Two sticks of my brand of butter is 8 oz. I went with the two sticks and it worked out fine. Happy housebuilding!

The recipe for gingerbread for this house tastes wonderful. If you want to eat your gingerbread, I would recommend using this recipe. If you want to use the gingerbread only for constructing a house, I might choose a recipe developed for that purpose only.

This recipe contains baking soda so the gingerbread house did have to be trimmed while still hot. I did have to bake the gingerbread more like 20 minutes rather than the specified 10-15 minutes. Otherwise, the gingerbread was still kind of soft and cracked easily.
