Terrific...taste and texture.
Anyone who is a cookie maker...try this recipe.
P.S. - Apricot or poppy seed topping won. Prunes lost out.

Oy Vey.
This is the recepie I made tonight for Purim.
2/3 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup orange juice (no pulp
1 cup white flour
1 cup wheat flour (DO NOT substitute white flour!!!
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
Various preserves.
I used cherry and strawberry preserves.
They are DELICIOUS!!
Instead of pinching, I suggest folding over the corners in a pinwheel type way, if that makes sense.

These are very good. I did substitute dried mango for the apricot and they were tasty. Make sure the dough warms up a bit before trying to roll it out, otherwise it cracks a lot. The end result was yummy though.

The recipe for the dough is good-- but I felt like the orange/apricot mixture for me was a little tart after baking... possibly my error. All in all, easy to follow instructions and a decent cookie.

I unfortunatly made these the day my husband invited a bunch of his friends over to work on the house. Needless to say I had to hide a few in the cupboard for my self.
The filling is delicious, i hate that unnatural jelly paste that many bakeries use when makeing hamentaschens. The pastry itself could have been better though.
all in all this is one of my favorite hamentaschen recipies.

I used Gale's recipe for the first time last year after a failed attempt with another recipe.
The cookies are wonderful with just the right touch of orange.
Because they are made for/by kids (that's part of the tradition -- my friends bring their kids to our house because I'm "the baking mom" we use chocoate, peanut butter, and cinnamon chips for the filling as well. To save time, I use apricot and raspberry jam for addtional fillings.

Just finished making this & it's a very tasty recipe. However the dough can be a little tough to work with at times. I found that regularly flouring the rolling pin helpful. I used Solo fillings to save time. Happy Purim!
