The texture of these scones turned out perfect. Crisp outside and light inside. However, they were a little bland for my taste. I may think about adding some cinnamon next time. I will probably eat them with jam more like biscuits then just plain.

I just made these this morning (with the help of my 2 1/2 year old daughter and they are super yummy! I LOVE scones and these I will make again. I followed the recipe exactly, as I like to do the first time I make something, except I brushed the tops with egg wash, sprinkled with turbinado sugar, and cut into small, medium, and large heart shaped scones (I don't have a circle cutter and didn't think of using an upside down glass until later. My batch yielded 7 large, 14 medium, and 8 small heart scones. They are soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. They are not as dense as other scones I prefer, but still very delish! I recommend this recipe!

Just made these, they came out fantastically. I used 8 oz of butter instead of 12 oz to cut out a little fat.

These scones are so buttery with a nice crunchy texture from the oats...reheat it in the oven - scrumptious!

I made these scones over Thanksgiving weekend, for my family and guests and they were a huge hit! I mixed the dry ingredients in a zip-loc bag the night before, which made it really easy to set up the next morning. I dumped everything in my stand up mixer and used all the half and half. The dough was sticky but once I rolled it out with some flour, it was fine. I shaped the dough into a square and cut it into 16 small triangles. I also made some quick icing from confectionery sugar, a little hot water and vanilla. They came out really great. I can always count on Gale Gand's recipes--they are amazing!

i tried to make these with the kids for a fun and healthy treat, and i was overwhelmed with how much dry ingredients i had. i had such a hard time incorporating the butter into the flour and oats. (i am an experienced baker by the time we were finished, we ended up with flat little disks... i will admit they have a great flavour, they just never had the chance to become the fluffy scones i dreamed of. maybe i'll try again!

This was my first time attempting scones. The directions were clear and easy to follow. I did modify the recipe for my own taste and added a teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the dry ingredients then garnished with a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar right out of the oven.

Great recipe and simple to make. Made a few batches for a bake sale and they were gone in minutes.

This is a really easy recipe to make and makes super fluffy tasty scones. I would suggest a pastry cutter to make it easier to cut the butter into the flour/oat mixture.
