Tastes just like a root beer float... well without the fizzy stuff! Takes a little bit of work, but in the end, it is worth it!

This cake had a very nice texture. Easy to make. Root Beer taste wasn't very strong--read the reviews after making the cake so the suggestion as what type of root beer flavoring would probably lifted the flavor. Yes, the frosting was way too much.

I had my doubts about this cake but I was foiled again. I had a hard time finding rootbeer flavoring but glad I took the time to find it.(Watkins carries itThe cake is moist and delicious. I made it into cupcakes. I frosted them with whipped cream that was flavored with the rootbeer extract and sugar. I sprinkled the tops with chocolate sprinkles then added a cherry with stem. I cut colorful straws in half and insterted them in the cupcakes. They were so cute. Give this one a try.

This was a great cake. It had a lot of flavor. However I thought it was somewhat complicated. Otherwise it was wonderful

The concept was intriguing, and after reading some of the negative reviews I still wanted to try it. I think the key in the root beer flavor is to use the "real" extract...what one uses to actually make root beer and not the generic flavoring stuff you find in the grocery store. My cake had a good root beer flavor however it was very dry. I had read that complaint in some of the reviews and decided to use the abundance of frosting to combat that by splitting the layers. This usually adds a little moisture to the layers, however the extra frosting just made the cake way too sweet and did nothing to combat the dryness.

Made this cake for my son's birthday and it was delicious. The cake was so fluffy and probably the highest rising cake that I have ever made. The frosting recipe was great also.
