My family loves root beer floats so I couldn't wait to make the cake for New Year's Day. The cake was such a disappintment. It was very dense and barely could we taste the root beer. The frosting is very good, but makes way too much for one cake.

Taste just like a root bear float! Fun cake, not the best, but I would do it again because of the novelty.

Tastes a lot like root beer float, but not the greatest cake ever.

I generally love Gail's recipes. This one kinda left me wanting... know your cake baking and it will turn out pretty well. It has a strong rootbeer flavor.

This recipe was ok. Not bad, but not that good. I'd rather look for another recipe that is really good for all the work that is required with this recipe.

I agree with a previous reviewer who thought there was too much frosting and that it was too sweet. I used about half and that was plenty. I won't bother to make it again unless maybe just for kids.

This was delicious! Very moist and the frosting was to die for! Will make again and again!

Turned out great!! This was my first attempt at making a cake from "scratch" and I even had to do it with a hand mixer. Easy, just took a little time. The grandkids and I loved it.

I was running on the treadmill watching Gale make this cake on TV and my husband came running downstairs and said, "I want that cake for Father's Day!" I did make it for him and my father and they thought it was a wonderful cake and my children loved it to.
