- 1 sugar cube
- 2 ounces Irish whiskey
- About 1 cup hot black coffee
- Softly whipped unsweetened heavy cream, for topping
- 5 drops creme de menthe

Put the sugar cube into a glass coffee mug and add the whiskey. Fill the mug nearly to the top with coffee. Using a spoon, gently ladle a 3/4-inch-thick layer of cream over the top of the coffee. Garnish with the creme de menthe and serve immediately.
