Made these "by the book," except perhaps for not cooking them quite long enough (on purpose. Completely delicious. The hotness and pepper flavor melds beautifully with the chocolate. I would suggest using really good chocolate. They are great slightly undercooked for a melty, creamy inside.

I actually found this recipe really good. I had tried spiced brownies before and was never that impressed.
To the person with the egg issue...you need to temper the eggs before adding them to the chocolate. Basically, whisk the eggs and then mix in some of the hot chocolate and then add the eggs to the bowl of chocolate. It should work better.

The basic brownie recipe was good, but I didn't like the flavor of the added spice.
I do like spicy brownies, but I didn't like the 5-spice.
Also I think I would rather use cayenne pepper instead of the chipotle in adodo since the peppers still have the seeds in them and the seeds were hard. If I had to use the chipotles again, I would take the time to remove the seeds from the chipotles before adding them to the brownies.

really great mixture of flavors, but unfortunately, it turned into a lumpy mess. I knew I shouldn't mix eggs into the hot chocolate mixture, so I cooled it down quite a bit, but still it clumped up quite a bit. It is kind of messy, but still a nice flavor. Try figuring out a way to mix the eggs + chocolate -- I couldn't!
