I have made this cake a bunch of times and it is AWESOME! I made a light chocolate icing and only put the coconut filling between the layers. Everyone raves about the cake, and is always a huge hit. People are always requesting me to make this cake! So, for me the coconut filling is enough for 2 cakes...I put half in a ziploc bag and put int he freezer until I need to make another cake!

This is the best German Chocolate Cake I have ever had. I made several of them for a bake sale at Church and not only did it sell out first but people are still raving about it. Thanks Aliyyah

This cake is SOOOOOO Good. I made it for my mom and mother-in-law for Mother's Day and they went on and on about how good this was. Even my finacee loved it and he hates coconut. I made a one layer cake and cupcakes and both came out perfect even though i forgot to add the egg whites. Def making again!

This cake is WINDERFUL!!! I LOVE to cook, therefore enjoy spending some love on a recipe, in the past, I am not very good at scratch cakes, I prefer box, this was for a friends wedding celebration, this is she wanted German Chocolate, I just could not do a box! This cake is MOIST, flavorful, and a whole lotta love went into it. It takes 9 eggs! wow! I used 2 10" pans, just right! All of her guests raved on this cake, so I give this one many many 5 stars!!

The smell of the filling simmering made my sons mouth water. I made this cake for my husband and two children, and they all loved it. This is a recipe for keeps :-

I made this cake the other day for my girlfriend's birthday and it came out perfect! It really had that distinct European flavor to it. The cake held together extremely well and it was a huge success! I'd never made a cake from scratch before either! The only thing i changed was i used a raspberry filling recipe that i found elsewhere instead of the one called for in this recipe. First try and it was a success so i'd give it 5 stars.

This cake was super moist, excellent taste. When assembling, it takes some
skill because it's so moist. I really liked it and will make it again. For the sides
and pipping I added one of my own chocolate frostings. If you follow the recipe
it will turn out great, thank you ! My partner loved it.

Today was the first time I made a German chocolate cake and I read most of all the reviews before I began and I must say my cake came out PERFECT!!! I DO know why the others complained of their cakes falling apart and not working out is because they can't either #1. Cook or #2. read simple directions and because of their ignorance bash this wonderful cake. All I have to say is this cake is amazing and I highly recommend it. P.S Read the directions and use common sense like grease and flour the cake pans.. so it wont fall apart LOLOLOL!!!!

i am so grateful for this recipe. it is pretty easy & it tastes so on point. completely soft & moist & devine. i made a two layer cake & then a dozen cupcakes. i had about 2 1/2 cups of coconut frosting leftover & i was generous with it. i frosted the side of the cake with canned chocolate frosting. iwanted it to be pretty like her's, but homemade would have been better. i got restless because i'm a new mom! anyway, thankyou for my new favorite recipe!
