I had to add a lot of extra butter, or it would have been very dry. But once I did, it was very good.

Wow - these are great! This is super easy and nearly fool proof. It is crowd pleaser - it tastes like you really worked at it - loved that it could be made ahead and then 20 minutes of baking at the end. I followed the recipe -except I used 5 pounds of potatoes - it was just perfect. Thanks for a great one!

This is a decent recipe. I used 2 large russet potatoes, 1/2 cup of butter, 3/4 cup of milk and 1 cup of moz. cheese. Before the cheese the mashed potatoes were good and with the cheese...they simply tasted the same. When I put this in the oven, the potatoes suffled a little bit and even without the parmesean and the bread crumbs, it browned a little bit. Although, these were good I'm not sure I would make them again.

A little bit too cheesy for me, but still a great side dish! ... quick to make also!

Decadent with all the cheese. Love that it's a make ahead recipe. I used 3 lbs of Yukon gold potatoes as that's what I had in the house. Still used the same amount of liquids and it worked out perfectly. Also substituted panko for the bread crumbs on the top as I like the extra crunch. Did have to put it under the broiler for a few minutes to get the panko and parmesan to brown.

My husband and I traveled so much over the holidays and did not have much "down" time...so yesterday (1/9/11, I decided to make a nice, big comfort meal for just the two of us. This recipe was wonderful! The only change I made was that I added 1/2c of sharp cheddar and only 1c of motz. YUMMY! I will make some potato pancakes with the leftovers! Thanks Giada!

These are very good, and come out with a great texture. We use italian instead of plain bread crumbs, and cubed mozzarella instead of shredded. The mozzarella just seems to disappear when you use shredded, and you get wonderful cheesy bites with the cubes.

This dish was pretty good. The topping didn't seem to be enough for the amount of potatoes, so I would suggest that you use only 3 potatoes, but keep the rest of the ingredient amounts the same.
