So I read everyone's reviews and decided to replace the water with apple cider, as many people complained about not enough apple flavour. I also then reduced the sugar from 1/4 cup to 3 tablespoons, since the apple cider is already a little bit sweet. Awesome! Light, fluffy, and booming with a punch of apple flavour! Yay!

Meh. These were all right. I had really high expectations for these because I love apple and cinnamon. I shredded up two and a half large grannies in the batter, plus added a touch of cinnamon & nutmeg and still thought they were kind of bland by themselves. Maybe I'm just too used to super sweet doughnuts. That said, the cinnamon whipped cream is *really* good. I almost could've sat down with just that and a spoon : I think I would probably just use my left over whipped cream on top of hot chocolate rather than make more of these doughnuts. For anyone wondering about making them ahead of time, I initially made these as a little dessert, but had a ton of batter left over (there were only two of us, and I made some more about 4 hours later and they tasted the same (still bland!

Apple flavor is subtle and delicate; With a few extra teaspoons of powdered sugar, cinnamon whipped cream is sublime. The batter was a little runnier than I expected making the zeppole flatter and more like little puffy pancakes. Overall this little recipe is worth a try, it's easy, special and different. My little boy and I loved them on a snowy night and we're saving the extras for breakfast!!

Very Good! I was surprised how easy it was to make this recipe! My family and I can't wait to make it again. I did have to add a little flour to firm up the batter because it was a little too liquid like, but on the whole - not a problem.

This recipe was okay. It wasn't sweet enough and u couldn't taste the apples. The 1st batch were not well done from inside but the next batches came out better. I think next time i will add a little more sugar and a bit more flour.
