these were a huge hit, and Im so glad I made them! I couldn't find scone mix at my supermarket, so I just used the dry ingredient's from Alton Brown's basic recipe instead. I used half AP flour and half cake flour. I also added some freshly ground black pepper to the dough, and it was great. These were easy, tasty, and different enough that I will definitely be making them again for a potluck or bake sale!

Love Giada and her recipes however as good as this looks and as much as I love scones this didn't turn out well at all!! The salami was chewy and just ruined the recipe. I diced the salami small with the apricot and bought a good quality at Central Mkt...??

I was able to find the scone mix at my local store, I used candied ginger instead of apricots and it was AWESOME! It had a sweet but spicy twist. We are Italian so we love salami with everything. Thank you Giada for this recipe!!

I was not able to find scone mix so I made these from scratch using a buttermilk recipe I found online. It didn't require that much additional time and the results were well worth it. We loved them! The mixture of apricot and salami along with the fresh tyme was incredible. I did have to bake them an additional 2 minutes.

I thought these were good, but not great. The actual dough lacked flavor and needed a little something, maybe some black pepper. I used the recommended Ivy Cottage scone mix, but instead of using 6 oz of salami, I only used 4oz. It looked like so much salami compared to the dried apricots. And the finished product definitely had enough salami! My scones didn't rise in the oven, or get very browned on top. I had to cook them for 6-8 minutes longer than suggested. Could this be from "overworking" the dough mixture? I don't think I would make these again, due to cost of the ingredients which only give a so-so end product.
