I made these as soon as I saw them on TV. They are fabulous! Everybody LOVED them. I will be making these often as they are perfect for breakfast or an after school snack.

I just finished eating about 1/4 of the finished product and let me tell you - these seriously are fabulous. I didn't have the oats, so I substitued some crushed Cheerios instead (since they're made from whole grain oats. Surprisingly, it actually worked! This sort of reminds me of an apple pie-type dessert. MAKE THESE! You'll be glad you did :

These are very quick and easy to make. My family and friends love them! You could use a nut mix such as pumpkin/sunflower/cashew/almond instead of walnuts - nice texture and good flavor.

I tried these last week and couldn't get over how good they were. Between my husband and work, they're gone. I stuck to the recipe and enjoyed them very much. I did use 18oz of jam and added more dried apricots. I need to make more.

These bars are so good. I added raisins instead of dried apricots.
Waiting the night to try them in the morning was difficult. I can't wait to change the ingredients to make (hum blackberry, or maybe red raspberry. The options are endless.
    Thanks Giada

This recipe was really easy to make and eat! My husband and I polished off the entire batch ourselves. I love apricots so was happy to see a recipe that used dried apricots. As my husband was eating his third one, he was already figuring out the other fruits/jams we could use. Will definitely make again.

These were so flavorful with just the right amount of sweetness. We found them to be nice and moist, too. After his first bite, my husband's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree in a Macy's Department Store window.

I think I'll try a different kind of jam and dried fruit next time. Maybe I shouldn't try to re-invent the wheel.

These bars are superb. Easy to make and very yummy! I usually do not make 13X9 things since there are only two of us, but made these and froze the extras after a few days. They taste just as good out of the freezer as they did when I first made them. You cannot go wrong with these. I hope to try with other fruits/fillings.

My husband and I enjoyed this recipe; especially enjoyed the apricot filling. Next time I will increase the filing by half to be certain that all of the crumble is covered. I think there is enough crumble as the recipe directs but I will be certain to divide the dough first before pressing it into the pan. The bottom layer of my bars was too thick. I will also try the suggestion to use only one stick of butter and applesauce as it was a little on the heavy side. I cut the pieces into small squares to reduce the portion size and limit calories as best you can with a recipe that calls for two sticks of butter. Nice treat with my afternoon cup of coffee. A recipe worth keeping.
