These were very good. I can't eat wheat so I used rice flour with a bit of xantham gum and they still turned out very well. I also used 1/2 applesauce and 1/2 butter and it tasted great - the consistency of the mix was perfect. I liked it but they weren't the best bars I've ever tried it so I gave it 4 stars. I'll probably still make them again though, they were very easy - it seemed like a lot of jam when I was making it but it was a good amount after it came out of the oven. Try it with a bit of ice cream while it's still warm - that was tasty.

I love this recipe! I make it lower calorie by using one cube "Can't Beleive It's not Butter", and one regular cube of butter. I use reduced sugar preserves, and 1/2 the brown sugar substituted with "Splenda." I have made the bars with stawberry filling and dried strawberries. Today I made them with my homemade chunky applesauce, made with Spenda, nutmeg, allspice, lemon juice, cinnamon, and a little honey. I used 5 apples, boiled then in 1/2 cup of water until tender, and used a potato smasher. This was my filling. Yummy! Thanks Giada for the recipe.

They were moist, flavorful and chewy. I didn't have any parchment paper on hand at the time,so I used the same instructions but with aluminum foil instead. I let it cool for an hour on a cooking rack, then laid a paper towel down on a cutting board and carefully flipped it upside down. Then carefully cut them and set them in containers.
Thank you Giada,I love your recipes as well as your shows!

Have made these a few times now using the original recipe and different variations. All were really good! This recipe is very versatile. Great snack. I definitely use half the sugar. I have used freshly milled whole grain flour, sucanat instead of sugar, different kinds of nuts, jellies and fruit. Have added coconut with the oats. All were great. Can't really mess this one up. thanks

These are fabulous. Insanely easy to make, and all of the ingredients are pantry staples. These taste a lot like granola + the "crisp" or "crumble" part of cobblers. Filled with smooth apricot preserves. YUM. Really a treat. You can taste the oats, and the brown sugar. Good for breakfast, dessert, or a snack. Great picnic dish. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

These were really delicious and easy. My 2 1/2 year old made them with me. I did cut the butter to 1 1/2 sticks based on another review. You can definitely get away with that amount, but I wouldn't go less. I did not add the dried apricots b/c the preserves I used had big chunks of fruit in it. I also added some ground flax to healthy things up a little. I would make these again and may try raspberry preserves next time.

I am not a fan of apricot, but theses Apricot Oat Bars are WONDERFUL! They are easy and quick. The whole family loved them and I didn't have to be worried about the kids eating them! I would definitely reccommed this recipe.

My 3 year old daughter loves to watch Giada every day, so I thought it would be fun to make these after watching the episode. We had a great time making these together - perfect to make w/a young child who likes to cook.

They turned out great! They are delicious, but they are not what I would consider to be a healthy snack. They are more like a dessert, but soooo yummy. I don't care for walnuts, so I substituted pecans and it came out great.

These are similar to English Flapjacks, just with flour and eggs. But, just as delicious......loved the fruit filing. A new favorite with the kids too! Will definitely be making them for their school lunch boxes :
