We followed the recipe to the letter and prepared it for guests. It was fairly awful. What a disappointment. Wish we had stuck to our traditional lasagne dish instead. Every ingredient was measured and included according to the recipe. Something is wrong with this one!

I made this last Christmas Eve for a second main dish at my in-laws house. Everyone loved it. Because we had so much food, I didn't include meatballs, but it was very tasty. My family is asking me to make it again this year. Definitely worth a try.

Tasty. I used basil instead of parsley in the meat balls. It's pretty good, but like other reviewers wrote, not amazing. Also, the recipe says that it feeds 4-6, but when I was finished it was enough for 10! So, be careful if that's not the portion size you're going for.

OK, but nothing special. I wish that I had followed the recipe and used the total amount of ricotta. I took note of one of the other reviews and used less and my result was very dry pasta dish. If I try again, I would use a meat sauce and not the meatballs. They were pretty uninteresting and did not add to the harmony of the dish. Not Giada's best.

Perfect as written!
If you're on a diet or trying to lose weight, don't change it to fit your needs then complain that it was dry...etc. Get to your desired weight, make the recipe as written, realize that it's perfect the way it is, come back and write a proper review. Thanks!!

Delicious! I followed the recommendation in the review by "scottkim" ... used 15 oz container of whole milk ricotta vs 3 cups and also cut back the butter to 4 TBSP ... but I think you could eliminate the butter altogether. Also, since time did not allow, I used Newman's Marinara sauce. Oh yeah ... I was brave even though it was my first time ever making Baked Ziti ... and made this dish for guests ... and everyone raved about it ... even the "foodies." Thank you, Giada and scottkim!

First off... Tomato sauce does not mean canned tomato sauce. Anyone who watches Giada knows that. I went with a homemade sauce since I hate jarred sauce. My recipe: 2-28 oz cans of San Marzano tomatoes in puree, 1/2 onion (chopped, 3 tbls olive oil, sprig of fresh thyme, sprig of fresh basil (cut in strips. Sauté onion in hot olive oil for a couple mins, add tomatoes and herbs, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 15 minutes (remove thyme sprig before moving to the next steps of the recipe. That's it! I opted for Italian sausage instead of meatballs, if you choose sausage too, add it to the oil, before adding onion in the sauce recipe above and follow the recipe as follows... My husband said it was the best ziti he'd ever eaten and I must concur!! It was divine.

Very good recipe. I made my own meatballs though, and the ONLY thing I would change is the Cheese topping at the end. It calls for like 2 cups of shredded Motz, and that is WAY to much cheese! It was almost gross. Other than that, delish!

Very tasty! I use pre-made italian meatballs (frozen and a flavored jar of spaghetti sauce for ease and added flavor. Delicious. Don't skip the butter on top at the end. It really makes a difference. YUM!
