Made this for my "work family," every last bit of it was gone by the end of the night. It was a little time consuming to make, but worth the effort. Used extra cheese, and added a little extra seasonings as well. I ended up making the meatballs separate as the ones in the recipe lacked flavor to me.

The meatballs turned out moist and flavorful. However I was unimpressed with the outcome of the dish overall. Even after adding Italian seasoning, sea salt and fresh ground pepper to the ricotta and tomato sauce mixture, I found the the dish to be bland. The only flavor seems to be cheese, and the recipe calls for too much butter, very oily. The recipe has the potential to be very good with a few alterations. Next time I will use a jarred sauce like Prego that has herbs and seasonings already infused in the sauce in lieu of canned tomato sauce for the ricotta mixture.

Personally, I like sweet onion taste from carmelized onions in my meatballs, tried this recipe but the old fashioned Italian cooking in oil is nothing compared to using an oven. I'd pass on this recipe in the future - I have not tried any of the rest of Giada's recipes as of yet.

I just made this for the first time last night, it was easy and very good. The meatballs were delicious and made the recipe. My kids loved it! I will make this again for sure. Thanks Giada, great recipe.

I love Giada's recipes. This one however missed the boat. "Tomato sauce" cannot be correct. The meatballs were bland with plain bread crumbs. I would use italian bread crumbs in the future. Mixing tomato sauce with ricotta gives you a pink color and not at all appealing. it was overall awful. Not only that but it takes a while to do the prep work and then bake it for another 40 minutes. Really bummed over the time spent, but all the other recipes I've tried are to die for. Especially, her Lemon Spaghetti!

These meatballs are deceptively simple but absolutly delicious! Do not pass up making these, you will be delightfully surprised by how good they are!

I just tried this recipe tonight and I was not disappointed at all! I did only make half of the recipe though because I just wanted me & my husband to try it before I made the whole thing. We really liked it! This is definitely one I will make again. I read all of the reviews before I made it and I did use my favorite spaghetti sauce instead of tomato sauce, but I would have known to do that without reading the reviews. It tasted like we were eating at a nice Italian restaurant, and it was very easy to make too which makes it even better. I should've cooked it a little longer though, but with my oven, it seems like it always needs to cook longer than recipes say. Anybody who gives this recipe less than 5 stars didn't do something right.

I made this ziti for our family of 8 (4 adults and 4 children. Everyone very much enjoyed it! It was not looking like a classic ziti but I knew that going in that it wouldn't. It is more of a tomato creamy ziti which was absolutely delicious.

However I did make a couple changes. For the meatballs I used season Italian breadcrumbs and only a bit of parsley and I cut down the romano cheese. I made them with ground beef which I was nervous about because I typically make my meatballs with veal. This is probably the only change I will make next time -- making the meatballs with veal instead of ground beef.

I also left out the parmesan cheese for the topping. Romano and mozarella I knew would be plenty of cheese and it was.

The "tomato sauce" was my home made red sauce. So yes it was awesome and everyone loved it and it heated up very well the next day.

Thanks Giada for another amazing recipe! You haven't let us down yet!!!

I have used this recipe on many occasions either for a fast meal or when I have alot of guests coming for dinner. It is a hit and many of my guests complemented me on it and have taken the recipe and made it at their home. It is one of Giada's best. Thanks you!
