Too much effort for result. Apples and Onions did not seem to go together. Apples were much better served w/ice cream. Beer batter was too runny and seemed not to stick to onion when placed in hot oil at given temperature. Much better to buy frozen onions then to go through trouble of making them. Sorry Giada, I love your recipes, this one though was not one of your best.:{

First thing tried in my new deep fryer. Didn't try apple rings but the onion rings were tasty, easy, and great the next day on a lunchtime cold cut sandwhich.

I loved the beer batter, I have tried other batters before but this is my absolute favorite! I did not try the onion rings, I used green tomatoes and did the apples but sliced them thinner to get more of a crunch. I served both tonight for my entire family and everyone loved them.

This was so easy!! I had never made homemade onion rings before but they turned out great!! Did not make the apples but may have to try those next time. I am thinking about trying the beer batter on fish.

I've never made onion rings before, but we've eaten plenty of commercially prepared versions. By far, these were the best I've ever eaten. We made the apple rings as well, but they were a bit soggy. We won't make the apple rings again, but we've made the onion rings several times, and they've been delicious every time!

Great onions! We did not make the apples. For some reason the batter was too thin to stay on the onions but added 1/2 c more flour and it was perfect. Also, used 4 whole onions instead of 1 onion and 3 apples. Worked out perfectly. We ate them until we were all stuffed.

I love this recipe. The beer batter is light and airy and I will use it from now on for all of my battering. The onion rings were light but had a good crunch. The apples were sweet and soft and yummy and I loved the salty cinnamon on them. Everyone should try this recipe.
