Thanks Giada, for sharing this simple recipe. I have been searching for the perfect onion ring batter for the past couple years. Also, there is a restaurant in town that makes the best fried zucchini I have ever eaten...and I have tried to duplicate it. Your batter is the closest I have come.
I had a couple of Vidalia Sweet onions in the fridge and I just made them up for lunch with my hubby. He said you hit one out of the park!! He wanted me to Thank You personally!!
I will try the apples at another time...but I can think of all kinds of veggies and fish I would love to make with this recipe!! So quick and easy!
I don't mind that you are sharing some quick and easy things to make. I am working full time now and don't always have the time to make everything from scratch..I appreciate the short cut ideas too!! Keep em coming!
I know you can't please everyone with every show, but you are a hit in our home! :

My husband is not a fan of onion rings but he will request these time and time again. Absolutely wonderful!

I made this for a party last night and they were fantastic! I served the apples first as an appetizer and everyone was raving about them. The flavor and the texture really work well together. I modified the recipe to make "apple fries" instead of rings.
The beer batter with the cinnamon sugar really served a sweet and crunchy start!
The onion rings were served up with a barbecue of steak, ribs, and salad for a marvelous feast!
The recipe was easy to follow. I think the egg white was the key to the crust.

Last night my husband and I watched the Giada at Home episode featuring these onion rings, and while at the grocery store today he told me we had to make them tonight. I've never deep fried anything before, and I have to say making this batter and frying the onion rings was really simple. All in all, the whole process took no more than 15 minutes, and the result was absolutely delicious!
The only change we made was adding a little cayenne pepper to the salt to spice up the rings after frying. Really yummy if you like heat!

These are delicious and easy to make. The batter is crispy and the apples and onions are tender. These are definitely a keeper. Thank you Giada!

I had to make extra onion rings to replace all of the ones I ate while cooking them!! They were sooooo good, I cannot even express!! I did make one mistake with the apples - I forgot to dry them out a bit. They were really soggy but the flavor was good. We had to eat them with our forks. The onion rings are just amazing!! They went perfect with the burgers from this episode!!
