I followed the recipe to the letter! They looked picture perfect, but tasted like a fast food pie. I think the problem is the store bought pie dough. I wished I had made my own dough.

They came out great! It was such a great easy recipe that makes people ooh and ahhh! I love that it used store bought dough as it made it very quick and easy! The filling is very runny soon after it is made, so we found it best to let them cool a couple of hours and the filling solidifies!

I think people that have issues with it falling apart are either putting them into oil that is too cool - Make sure your oil is up to 375 before you put them in. Also, make sure to use the egg wash and really crimp the sides together. Ours came out perfect.

Do you think I can substitute the mascarpone cheese with ricotta cheese? I have some ricotta cheese leftover in my fridge...

I had terrible luck frying the turnovers. Everything was going so smoothly until I had to fry them. They broke apart! I ended up having to bake them, but was wondering why they broke apart? Was it the dough - it was store bought?

Book club loved them and thought I made "fancy" treats. Thanks to Giada for inspiring me to try something new. I'm so glad she used pie crust instead of starting from scratch like Martha (ugh. I don't think I could have messed these up.

I made these for a family dinner, however i changed them a bit. In greased a cookie sheet to bake the turnovers on, 375 for 15 minutes. Before i put them in the oven I brushed them with an egg wash and sprinkled with sugar.

I make these using Pepperidge Farms mini puff pasty cups (in the frozen food section. I bake them at 350 for about 10-12 minutes... AWESOME! The first time I made them, I did substitute with light cream cheese; this also works well.

I was wondering if I could use puff pastry in place of the pie dough? I could bake them which sounds a little easier than frying. iI want to make these for my Dads 85th birthday coming up.

I just made these this morning and they turned perfectly. The only thing I would change for my own personal taste is the thickness of the crust. I did half of them with blueberry and the other half with chocolate and both were amazing! I have yet to find a recipe of Giada's I didn't like!

This was definitely a winner in my house, absolutely delicious...but i did use strawberries instead. Nothing fell apart in mine just follow the recipe exactly!
