I thought the sauce was too thick. I followed directions exactly too. I think the sauce could do without the cheese, which just adds too much salt and thickens too much. Meatballs are good, a bit rich, but good. I liked the veal. Overall, just ok recipe.

This recipe is wonderful. The meatballs are absolutely delicious. I only used ground beef, no veal and they were fine, better than fine. I did buy some good pancetta and smoked mozzarella, which I think really sets the dish apart from the usual spaghetti and meatballs. The two parts could easily stand on their own.

I've made this a few times now and I love it, we all love it. I'm not a fan of meatballs but these are seasoned very well and moist! Every time I make this it's gone quickly. The sauce is very good too...it's well seasoned as well and not tart. This is my go to spaghetti and meatball recipe now ;o

I thought is was definitely a good tasting meal but it didn't really have that sort of smoky flavor I had in all the amatricianas I had in Italy.

This review is only for the meatballs in the recipe. I haven't tried the rest of the recipe. These are, hands down, the best meatballs I've ever had. They're heavy on the garlic, so I sometimes roast the garlic in a dry pan before hand to cut the garlic a little (although you certainly don't have to. Other things I've done differently: I use regular mozzarella because I haven't been able to find smoked mozzarella. Additionally, I only use lean ground beef, rather than the mixture of beef and veal. They're always a huge hit when I make them.
I serve the meatballs over whole wheat pasta and frequently julienne some zucchini and saute that in olive oil and mix it in with the pasta. Great recipe!

This is only the second time we've made this, but my family absolutely LOVES it!!! I lived in Italy for a semester when I was a sophomore in college, and I used to eat this all the time. If I close my eyes, Giada's recipe takes me right back to that time and place! Amazing!

By far the best meatballs we have ever eaten! I excluded the red pepper flakes so my 4 yr old would enjoy it as well, and he raved about them. I made enough to freeze thankfully because they were devoured.

I made this tonight for dinner and it was a hit!! My son ate three bowls of the pasta and my husband said these were the best meatballs he had ever had. Thank you Giada!! I will definitely make this again.
