I made this substituting ginger snaps (5 cookies per recipe and I used sage for the bechamel sauce in place of the basil. Ginger snaps are more readily available and I think sage is a better taste pairing with the dish. It was great and I can't wait to make it again.

This recipe was easy, tasty and was appropriate for Thanksgiving -- with this one, I hit it out of the park! In fact, I made a second tray after Thanksgiving.

    Loved it!!!

I made this for Thanksgiving as an alternative to sweet potatoes. It was easy to put together and my guests loved it!

This would be a great crowd pleaser, especially for those who have vegetarians in the crowd.

I haven't tried this yet...I will...I love butternut squash....Your right about using sage instead of basil...it does add a little more flavor...also..try cooking the squash with chicken broth and a little butter
instead of water...That's normally how I cook it anyway....Can't wait to dig in!!!!!!!

This recipe will be made again and again and again. My husband raved about this for a solid 20 minutes and claimed it tasted "gourmet". Relatively easy to make with great results.

It was wonderful! Easy to make, rich & tasty. Add a salad and it's a meal all by itself!

This was delicious! Very rich in flavor. I wasn't able to find any Amaretto cookies so I used some plain butter cookies instead. I think I will try this again once I find some Amaretto cookies somewhere!
