I made these last year as thank you gifts for my baby shower. These apples are over the top delicious. The orange juice took the apples from plain old fashioned caramel apples to gourmet. You're the best Giada.

These are wonderful! We used the orange juice and they turned out just fine, no running, etc.

This was super easy, and easy to follow. I followed everything exactly. Tips: One package of 11 oz caramels will make 8 regular sized apples. The orange juice was a very subtle touch and not sure how it would affect the adhesive if I omitted it. The caramel ran a bit off the apples, but I stuck them in the fridge to set, and they turned out fine. Her vinegar and boiling water technique turned out great. I used dark chocolate chips with the vegetable oil, which was awesome. Next time I'll just put chopped nuts, but they tasted better than from a candy shop!

DO NOT USE THE ORANGE JUICE! ...unless you eat them right away. I made these for Halloween yesterday and we didn't eat them right away. We were going to eat them when we got back from Trick or Treating. The caramel had all run off of them and the chocolate and candies along with it. They didn't look good at all. I don't think the OJ is necessary at all. Good old fashioned dipping the apples in melted caramel is just fine.

Enjoyed making these on Halloween for my grandchildren. I followed Giada's instructions on removing the wax from the apples, and the caramel adhered much better.

The apples Giada used were Granny Smith. I hope this helps.

My 4 and 5 year old boys have been wanting to make this all week after watching Giada's show with me! It's really easy and fun to make. You can definitely taste the OJ, which wasn't bad. I may leave it out next time to get the full caramel taste. Maybe use water instead. Also, there is enough caramel for 10 apples, not 5. On the caramel bag, it says that one package is good for 5 apples. This was a great recipe, and I love how Giada showed us how to decorate the apples with chocolate. She had great tips about the vegetable oil in the chocolate, and boiling water to get rid of apple wax. Thanks, Giada!
