Re Robin L's question, I also cannot eat grapefruit as it interferes with medicine. I substituted orange and thought it was excellent. A little sweeter counterpart to the lemon in the dressing.

Can anyone suggest what I could use instead of the grapefruit?

I made this along with the other 2 recipes from this show for some friends. One of them said "All of these flavors just ricochet in my mouth." The meal was just as promised - light and delicious. I never would have thought to put caramelized onion in salad, but it totally made the salad! I received nothing but compliments on everything. Giada does it again! Wonderful!

This salad is delicous! It was fun to make, and something different from everyday salads.
I wanted to comment on the capers that the first review was asking about. On the episode that she made this salad she also made a salmon citrus salsa verde, and that was the part of the show that had the capers. That recipe is delicous too, you should try it!

Is it just me - or does anyone remember from the show there being capers in this salad recipe??? i am making this dinner right now - and i bought capers - and now i dont see it. i vividly remember her saying she did a light chop on them when normally she doesnt - to add more salt! Maybe im crazy.
