This is the best stew I have ever tasted....I loved it...and so did my boyfriend!!
The meat was so tender and juicy-the veggies were excellent...
The wine was not overwhelming-it was just right.

    I make it once a month :

And its not too pricy-Pricy=Great Food :

I'm surprised this recipie got bad reviews-I guess their tastebuds were off that day...

This beef stew was completely bland and the broth tasted horrible. I have made other recipes with wine and loved them but this was not worth the money I spent on the ingredients. I usually LOVE Giada's recipes but she was way off on this one. Save your time and money and make a different stew.

After reading all of the reviews it is obvious that the only way this recipe was good was to change or add ingredients. If you followed the original recipe, bland is the word. This is the 1st recipe of Giada's that we didn't like. Ina has a great recipe for beef stew.

I've had this cooking for most of the day and followed the recipe to a T after watching her make it on the show. It's pretty easy and smells great but I just tasted it and it is totally bland! This recipe is off. I'm so mad right now that I wasted my time and money. I make so many of her dishes and this is the first one that's a bust! My husband and I are trying to doctor it up with some more salt, pepper, tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce and then letting it absorb into the meat and veggies. It's a bummer--make Giada's butternut squash stew or Ina's Parkers beef stew instead because they are both amazing.

Giada did it again! Another delicious recipe. It was so easy to make, and so good to eat. Mary Ellen, Simpsonville, SC

This was absolutely a waste of a good piece of meat and my time.

This came out perfectly in the crockpot. My husband took it to work for lunch the next day. When it was heating, everyone in the office wanted to know what the heck he was cooking. He had to direct a lot of people to the website for the recipe. I did make a couple of changes, though: cut back on the wine in the pot and added some beef stock instead. Instead of the sage, I added a couple bay leaves, a sprig of fresh thyme, and a little tomato paste. I will definitely make this again.

I made this yesterday in my crock pot and it was fabulous. I added tomato paste and did everything else the same. The meat was so tender and juicy. My husband raved about it. I will definitely make this over and over....and the amount of wine was perfect....

I just made this stew today. All I heard from my husband while eating it was
OMG this is the best I ever had. all through the meal. I made it according to the recipe, except I add mushrooms after the first 2 hours. I followed the reciepe up to the point of bringing it to a boil, then I put it in a 325 oven for 3 1/2 hours.
Wouldn't change a thng. I will be making this again, can't wait until tomorrow to have the leftovers.
