Very tasty dish, and easy to prepare. My first time doing this recipe, and I had to put my chef hat on. A perfect dish!

The sauce is out of this world. If you like fish, try it on roasted salmon. The combination is amazing!

I added a few things to up the flavor and cut back on the fat and calories. I added some sliced onion to the fennel and then deglazed with about a cup of white wine. I also used canned crushed tomatoes so there was more of a sauce to go with pasta. I didn't add the marscapone because swim suite season is right around the corner! But, with the wine, you don't miss the creamy texture and it feels lighter which is nice for summer. I also used Italian seasoned breadcrumbs and then added the extra herbs just to pack in more flavor.

Hunt's now has diced tomatoes with fennel and red pepper. Cuts the work in half.

Wow! Yummy! I could not find any fennel so I used half an onion sliced thin and some sliced mushrooms. I put it over some whole wheat penne, came out great!

Not sure why but I didn't think was as good as everyone else. The sauce was nice and creamy and tasty but all together I didn't think it had enough taste to warrant the effort.

I couldn't find fresh fennel at the store so I substituted mushrooms in the sauce and used canned diced tomatoes instead and it turned out great!

This is DELICIOUS!!!!! I bought my mother Giada's newest cookbook for the holidays, and this was the first recipe she tried. AMAZING! She said it was incredibly easy to make, and the flavors were absolutely delicious. My entire family was asking for her to make it again as soon as she can! Thanks, Giada! We loved this! :
