This was different for my family but it was good. I added some Red Wine and garlic per the other reviews. I am not sure if this is a taste my family is head over heals in love with. I have to give it 4 stars because it was good, but just a recipe we wouldnt normally eat--more a personal preference as opposed to "not good". I doubled the recipie since it seemed like it was going to be too little for the 4 of us, we had LOTS!...maybe because no one had seconds?? : We did eat up the leftovers no problem. I think it just took us a bit to get accustomed to the taste. (We are beef stew eaters!!. I will try again and make exactly as the recipe says. It is so healthy I would like to give it another go around. Served with biscuits and sliced cheddar cheese. I also like Worchestershire sauce in mine....but that is just a old family habit to add Worchestershire to soups and stews.:

My whole family loves this stew! I double the recipe, add a whole can of tomato paste, a little sugar, chili powder, red wine & Italian seasoning. I also use dried basil instead of fresh.
It is even better the next day!

Just go ahead and make this stew, you won't go wrong. You can add more liquid, more tomatoes, changing the proportion of the ingredients won't dramatically affect the result - it will still be so good. If you don't have carrots or celery on hand, make it anyway. Don't like red kidney beans? Use cannellini beans or just leave the beans out. I've even made it with dried basil instead of fresh, but fresh basil really makes this dish. I like to start by browning the chicken, salted and peppered, skin side down, in a little olive oil. This renders some of the chicken fat and gives the broth extra body and richer flavor.

I love this meal. It is filling and satisfying. Instead of cooking the chicken breasts in the mix I buy a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket and shred that and add it in. Also, if you want to stretch it you could also serve it over egg noodles. My whole family loves this recipe and it really is very simple.

Delicious! Doubled everything-used diced tomatoes with garlic, added Pinot Grigio-just gave the whole dish a nice flavor...served with toasted Rosemary bread. Simple and tasty-love those 1 pot dishes-make them on Sunday and dinner is ready for Monday!!

Yummy! Doubled the recipe hoping for leftovers but my family loved it so much there was not very much left to save! I sprinkled Parmesan cheese on top and served with a crisp green salad and garlic bread. Will make again!

I liked this recipe. Read the reviews and about bland flavor, so I added bacon as one reviewer suggested. I left out the basil (seemed a bit odd to me to have with kidney beans and finished with a dash of hot sauce! Yum!

BLAND doesn't even begin to cover it. Not sure why others loved this recipe so much. I tried everything to improve the lack of flavor and nothing would do it. A colossal waste of ingredients. Ouch!
