I made this for supper last night. I should have picked a weekend because it was quite a bit of work for a Thursday night, but it came out really good. I always have trouble making the roux (mixing the melted butter with the flour. There always seems to be too much flour & not enough butter. I had some lumps but I picked them out and whisked the rest smooth. I used some whole milk, some half & half and some 1% milk to cut some of the calories. I would have liked a little more of the white sauce (my end product was a little on the dry side after baking but all in all, this was really good. This is the first recipe of Giada's that I've tried and it is a keeper. Now I can see why everybody likes her recipes so much. YUM!

I loved this recipe and didn't find it all that time consuming or difficult for what it is. I did make a few adjustments to cut down on the fat content (4 cups of whole milk and no heavy cream and I doubled the amount of breadcrumbs for the topping. It does make quite alot of food. My kids loved it, though, and we had it for lunch the next day with a little salad. One suggestion that I would make: break the pasta in half before you cook it. I found that the long pieces of pasta were hard to mix evenly with the chicken mixture. I had a couple of sections that were sans chicken. I also may try it next time with spaghetti squash to make it lower carb. Aside from that, it is simply a delicous dish. Perfect comfort food for winter time or anytime. You will not be disappointed with this one. Try it.

A bit time consuming but not difficult - the directions were clear and easy to follow - the results were outstanding. Very flavorful and creamy! A perfect meal for a cold winter evening. I substituted 2% milk for the whole milk and cream and it came out just as good.
