These are the greatest chocolate shortbread cookies. I have made them for friends, my sister took them to her yoga studio -- everyone raves about the cookies! Very chocolatey-- light and delicate -- and not too sweet. I bake a lot of cookies and pastries and these are among the best. People think I'm talented -- but it's GIADA who is talented!! Thanks for the great recipe! (Only change I made was to substitute walnuts for the pine nuts -- still yummy.

Agreed that they are not too sweet...but that's part of what makes them so tasty...very different kind of a cookie..easy to make!

Just made these after finding the recipe while searching for another recipe. I read a lot of the reviews, but decided to make them per the recipe. The only change was bittersweet chips since I didn't have any semisweet on hand. I really like the fine texture and the not too sweetness of this cookie. I will definitely make these again, they're an adult kind of cookie and the pine nuts add an interesting richness.

Easy, but like others have mentioned they are not very sweet. I was hoping I would like them, but I probably will not make them again.

Used almonds in a pinch instead of pine nuts...tastes like chocolate shortbread. Delish

Easy to make & very tasty - I cut the recipe in half & it made about 10 small cookies. I also didn't put the pine nuts, I put a few extra chocolate chips instead. I made the dough & chilled it in the fridge for half an hour to make it easier to work with. The cookies took about 20-22 minutes to cook through at 325degs.

I do not know If I ever get the reply from you GIADA about my query,
SO I tried this cookies many times and they came out sooo well.
But for a change I wanted to try without coco powder and they were awful.
They looked like a disc than a ball shape. I followed the same recipe but coco powder and nuts. I really do not know what went wrong.

But really liked chocolate version. Thanks again for all your recipes.

my friend and i are 11 and these cookies werent hard to make for us, so i think ull have any problem (if ur older than us! they were a bit too sweet, but over all, if u eat them with some tea, they taste great. if u dont have pine nuts (which we didnt then u can use almonds or walnuts.

i couldnt believe how much sugar and butter was envolved to make these cookies!
