I made these cookies to take to a party, and they were HUGE hit. Everyone loved them! I usually don't like nuts in cookies, but the pine nuts were buttery and added such a great flavor.

I don?t' think it is bland at all. Substitute Walnuts with Pine nuts and follow the exact recipe and I think it is sweet enough. Oh, I added a tsp of espresso powder to bring out the chocolate flavor. (Big fan of Ina as well and that's what she does all the time when making chocolate dessert

After reading the reviews, I only baked for 15 min and let them sat for 10 min as well. They are very crumbly and scrumptious indeed but just not one of my favorite. Still think the lemon ricotta cookies are more heavenly.

For those who had bad experiences with the texture of the cookie:
Make sure butter is at room temperature (and not melted or cold, and ensure cookie is baked long enough (bottom of cookie should be golden bronw, and lastly, before removing from baking pan, let cool for 15 miutes, then place on cooking rack. Pesonally, I thought the cookie was sweet enough (especially after adding powdered sugar. Also, due to the ingredients (namely the powdered sugar, cookie texture will be light. Make sure to use good powdered chocolate!

They're heavenly and melt in your mouth. I'm not sorry I used up half of some special pine nuts I got as a present.

-used 1/4 cocoa unsweet cocoa powder
-added 4 tbsp of brown sugar due to reviews saying it was bland and not sweet
-used 1 all-purpose flour as it called for but added 1/2 whole wheat graham flour
    -1/2 cup of pine nuts
-2 tsps of vanilla instead of 1
-rolled dough into balls and placed on cookie sheet
-baked for 14 min and left on pan for 12 minutes to cool before placing on the cookie sheet

the texture is crispy, but not tough, almost like a shortbread-type texture where you want those flaky layers. I like the pine nuts, think they'd also be great with macadamia nuts.

I baked them for about 15 mins, and they were just right.

These were very crunchy and not as sweet as most other cookies but still good. Dont make this if you are expecting a chewy cookie. These seem great for holiday gift baskets but I would recommend more chocolate to add sweetness (I like my desserts very sweet

These were a sinfully delicious treat and very easy to make. I had my husband take half of them to work (so I wouldn't gobble them up! and they were a HUGE hit! Thanks Giada for the great recipe!
