I made these for my friends for Christmas. Had made them for my husband first, to try. He's a HUGE Nutella and hazelnut fan
They're so easy to make. This recipe is a keeper !!!

I was expecting more flavor from these cookies. I did not taste the Nutella. It tasted like a plain, old cookie..very boring and a little too sweet for my taste. Giada was the one explaining that "biscotti" is "twice-baked", but in this recipe the cookies are only baked once. I would not recommend this recipe to anyone. It's a waste of ingredients.

I agree with the other reviewers who noted these are not actually biscotti, since these are not twice baked. That said, I did like using Nutella in these cookies, and I did bake them twice like I would with other biscotti. This dough is probably not dry enough so my biscotti turned out a bit softer than usual, but they're still tasty. I also added some orange zest as a complement to the chocolate, which added a nice alternate flavor.

I was excited to make these cookies because I am a big fan of Giada but these cookies didn't turn out so well. They were too sweet and bland, with the sugar overpowering the chocolate and hazelnut. Also, the cookies came out really flat, not at all like in the photo in Giada's cookbook. I live at a high altitude and tried adding more flour to the second batch, and that helped a little, so if you live at a high altitude, you might try adding about 1/2 cup of flour to the recipe.

The cookies were great!! The whole batch I made for a Christmas party was completely gone! I substituted chocolate chips instead and they tasted amazing!

These are fantastic cookies! Everyone who tried them loved them, even those who said they weren't big chocolate fans! They got the seal of approval from my 9 year old son and my Italian dad. You definitely need to chill the dough, mine came out just like the picture. I grew up on Nutella and this is my new favorite cookie!

Why are these called Biscotti? I thought that was a term used for twice baked cookies.
