We just visited Italy for this 1st time and ate gelato every day. This gelato brought all the memories back. Tasted just like what we had on our trip! Thank you Giada!

After reading the reviews and making this recipe I'm a little confused. Nobody else seemed to have the problems that I had. The end product was a very odd consistency with globs of congealed fat throughout. Yuck! I'm an accomplished cook and I love Nutella growing up eating it as a kid. I must simply have made a mistake. Not sure I will try it again wasting expensive ingredients.

I thought it came out wonderfully but it was just a tad too sweet for me. I think i'll try reducing the 1/2 cup of sugar to 1/3 cup and perhaps the 1/2 cup Nutella to 1/3 cup and see if it helps. After letting my ice cream maker do its thing, I put the gelato away in the freezer in a plastic container (but left a small serving to taste for myself. It was really soft right after making it and it was a lot sweeter than after it was frozen overnight. I highly recommend this recipe, especially if you love Nutella.

THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT RECIPE. VERY CREAMY AND TASTES REAL CLOSE TO GELATO I HAD IN ITALY.

The recipe was so simple to make and came out delicious. When I added my egg mixture to the milk, it says it should take 7-10 minutes to thicken. However, I probably cooked it 15 minutes and it didn't seem any thicker. I finally gave up and went to the next step. Also, I didn't pre-melt the Nutella, and before freezing it looked to have undissolved Nutella (as mentioned by others, but after freezing it was fine. It tasted perfect - would definitely make again!!

Sometimes food can look better on TV than when made by the average cook. Thank you for the step-by-step details, it came out perfectly the very first time.

This is not a figure flattering dessert, but it can definately bring one to an altered state of consciousness--oh my goodness!
