    Rich and smooth - Instead of topping gelato with hazelnuts, I toasted them and added them to the ice cream mixture.

    Gelato is such a decadent dessert and so creamier and smoother than ice cream. I changed a bit around and it tasted even better to me by adding about 1 tbsp (or less if you like your chocolate less chocolaty of unsweetened cocoa powder to the mixture when you add the Nutella. It's so rich and cuts down a little on the sweetness of the custard and Nutella. It's also excellent using Almond extract instead of Vanilla.

    Horribly, cloyingly sweet, plus the Nutella gave the gelato a gritty texture, even after straining thoroughly. Nothing like real gelato. If I did the recipe again I'd cut the sugar by half and cook the Nutella with the custard to help smooth it out.

    This stuff was so good that my boyfriend and I finished it off in one day. It was absolutely heavenly, but don't make it if you care at all about your figure!

    This is the best chocolate ice cream bar none! Chocoholics (myself included will love the hazelnut flavor which makes the chocolate even more chocolatey.

    Easy to make, and way too easy to eat. Make a double recipe so no one will be disappointed!
