These were great! Any time I can use Nutella in a recipe I'm all for it!! Must try this one.

I was unimpressed.... the cookies got really flat. I baked them for less time then it was told to bake them because I like cookies chewy, and they still ended up being hard. They were hard and crispy, and nothing special.

I was surprised to see that not many people complained about these being too sweet. I know I measured out everything according to the recipe so didn't go over on my ingredients. But between the sugars you put in the cookie dough, then the nutella, the sugar that coats the cookie and the chocolate kiss ... I was on sugar overload. I even tried cookies without the kiss, then cookies without them rolled in sugar and a kiss, and still thought they were sweet! It's a great base so I plan on playing around with the recipe to see if cutting back the sugars will help.

And I liked the crispness of the cookie. Would definitely try these again.

I doubled the nutella as some recommended and cut back a little for each of the sugars. The cooking time was a little tricky. I baked the first batch 6 minutes and then put the kiss in. I returned them to the oven for 2 minutes. They were a little undercooked. The next time I cooked them for 6, put the kisses on and put them back in the over for 4 minutes (by accident. They are firmer, but not the biscotti texture that some people commented on. The flavor is verrry chocolatey- just like I like them! The hazelnut flavor is very light. I bet the frangelico idea would definitely bring out the hazelnut taste. Maybe I'll try that next time.

I made these last halloween, and everyone ate them up. I had to make another batch. I've had 4 people ask me if i'll make them again this halloween. They're so yummy!

For the record, I did modify the recipe based on the first batch I made that was according to the recipe. My office manager always gives me an honest opinion and he said the cookie was too crunchy and the sugar tasted a little burnt. So I doubled the Nutella, cut the white sugar in 1/2, used 2 eggs and baked for a TOTAL of 8 minutes. The chocolate kisses are definitely optional since this cookie is delicious without them. I rolled them in raw sugar and ended up with a beautiful cookie that was crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. To those who complained about the lack of hazelnut flavor, Nutella has a SUBTLE hazelnut flavor so what did you expect?!! I love this cookie and will make it often. Thanks Giada for a very tasty cookie that gives any baker an awesome jumping off point to make it her/his own.

Wow! I might go as far as to say that these could be my favorite cookies, EVER! I got RAVE reviews from everyone!!! I used sugar in the raw instead of orange sugar, which turned out fabulous!!! I also don't care for Hershey kisses, so I made a quick ganache and drizzled it on the cookies- also amazing! I will be making these again and again, for years to come!!! Thanks, Giada:!

This is my go-to cookie recipe now! I love these cookies, but I tried using peanut butter instead of Nutella because I didn't have any and they turned out fantastic. It's like you can't mess it up, I even used all white sugar once and they were still superb. Go Giada!
