Sounded and looked good but it was awful. Very dry. Had to throw it out.

I just finished my attempt at this recipe. I had to check the reviewer comments here for the very same reason others have posted their comments. My icing is liquid and the cake collapsed. I have made a number of recipes from the site and just assumed that this one would turn out just as wonderfully as the other dishes I have made. Unfortunately, that is not the case. I am surprised at the poor quality of this recipe since I assumed that it was tested in the Food Network kitchen before it is posted to their site. Oh well, overall I am very pleased with most of the other recipes. Giada, can you explain what you may have done differently from what is posted here so we too can make a delicious chocolate pound cake?

I wish I had read these reviews before baking the cake. I am bringing dessert to a dinner party this evening and will be stopping at the grocery store for something bought. I followed the recipe to the letter and had the same problems others did: cake overdone around the edges but collapsed in the middle, and icing that is pure liquid. Before I tried a second batch of the icing I checked these reviews and decided not to waste any more time or money. A LOSER!!
Note added later: in desperation I did take this cake to the dinner party, inspired by one reviewer's idea of crumbling it over ice cream. I expected an overly wet texture when I cut into the cake, since it had fallen. Instead it was dry as an overbaked brownie. Only the moisture of the ice cream made it (barely edible.

I thought this cake was delicious, but then again I don't like overly-sweet cake. I baked it in 2 smaller loaf pans instead of one larger one, and it turned out perfectly. The meringue didn't turn out for me, either; it never left the liquid state once I added the coffee (even when I tried adding less. I think a coffee-flavored whipped cream on top would be delicious!

This recipe is awful. The cake wasn't sweet enough and the texture was weird. The icing did not turn out out all. I even threw it all out and started over, and got the same results. Either someone did not write the recipe correctly or the one she did on tv was a prop.

I too was excited to try this recipe and bring it to my daughter's. Like the others, it sank in the middle upon taking it out of the oven. When I turned it onto the cooling rack, it crumbled and broke into pieces. The pieces are very flavorful though. I am bringing it anyway and will serve it with chocolate pudding as "Mud" or crumbled on vanilla ice cream.
Take this recipe off the website. It is a waste of time and money.

Add about 3/4 cups more flour and the cake will not fall. I hope this helps

I really loved its flavor. But, as everybody wrote below, the center of my cake also sank. It was more like chocolate souffle than chocolate pound cake. In order to minimize dryness, I put a loaf pan of water as I put the cake pan into the oven. The cake was very moist, chocolatey, and flavorful. But, it didn't come out as one piece. Did anybody solve this problem? Sigh...

A terrible disappointment. Sank, dry, crumbly, didn't even taste good. I wonder if anyone ever reads these reviews? You'd think someone, anyone, would pull the recipe off the site, possibly make changes that would make it edible. Made this for company, thank goodness we tasted it the night before so I had time to make something else!
