This recipe was really easy and unique! I made it according to the package instructions, but they still came out a little dry. I'd reduce the cooking time a bit. These are great for lovers of both chocolate and fruity desserts!

Really good cupcakes. Might be better if the cupcakes were from scratch, but a great quick recipe. The frosting is outstanding! Had my daughter's friends over for a baking day and all the mom's went crazy. My husband loved it on vanilla wafers as well. I did omit the orange peel from the cupcakes since I didn't think the kids would like the texture. ALSO! Use 1 stick of butter in frosting, not 1/2 stick as noted.

I thought this looked easy and I love the combination of orange and chocolate. The cupcake was good, but like others mentioned the pieces of candied orange sunk to the bottom. They were also a little weird in the cupcake, like, "What is this chewy thing in the bottom of the cupcake?" The frosting was soooooo sweet I doubled the butter like others. I also added a teaspoon of orange extract. Overall, they were OK, but I wasn't wowed. One of my nephews tried one bite and spit it out. And he looooooves chocolate and frosting.

Super good! Be sure you remember to beat in 4 eggs and 1/3 cup of oil after you mix in orange juice. The recipe doesn't remind you to use the eggs and oil.

I made this recepie for halloween and the cupcake part was awesome. The kids didn't favor the orange peel too much next time I will make it without the orange peel maybe some on top. The icing had the peel in it but it wasn't bitter it was perfect! And I think this recepie called for a little too much of the orange peel if I would I would have rated this 3.5

I never want to see Giada use boxed cake mix!!! If I wanted semi-home-made recipe, I would have hunted for a Sandra Lee recipe, which would never happen!

RECIPE CORRECTION ON THE FROSTING!!!! If you watch the on-line video, you will see that Giada MEANT to say "Half a Cup butter", NOT "half a stick"! She put in one WHOLE stick, which = 1/2 cup, or 8 Tablespoons. This may account for the frosting problems.
