The cupcakes are delicious and I will definitely make them again. I agree that that the frosted was too runny...but 4oz of cream cheese and 3 drops of orange essence oil make the frosting perfect!! Also chill the frosting for about 30 minutes before icing the cupcakes.

the frosting was very runny even with a little cream cheese added, and the chocolate chips sank to the bottom even coated with flour. but everything still tasted good.

Aloha! With only two hours notice to provide a birthday dessert, I had time find this recipe, to go to the store and create these yummy treats. As candied orange zest wasn't available, I bought orange marmalade and washed off the jelly to get orange zest- it worked great! The lemony topping is a lovely visual contrast to the chocolate cake and a cooling tasty treat. LUV the gooey chocolate chips.

OMG! I made these for a friend's birthday and got rave reviews! The only modification I made was adding 8 oz. softened cream cheese and additional limoncello (to taste to the frosting. Made the candied orange peel since it's not available in stores in April - easy to do and the perfect touch to these delicious cupcakes. These are definitely a keeper!

They are delicious but the frosting is very runny and it actually looks unappetizing on the cupcake. I had to convince people to try them and once they did they liked them. I think I would go with a thicker cream cheese frosting next time, the recipe frosting just didn't work out.

I use an orange cake mix because I don't like chocolate on chocolate. I pour the mix in a bundt pan and when I take it out, the chocolate chips are on top.

I generally prefer to bake from scratch, but I made these with a friend who was more in to the end product than the process. The cake itself was very easy and tasted quite good. The frosting, however, was runny. I tried adding powdered sugar and then cream cheese, but it remained way too thin. We ended up dipping the cupcakes in to the frosting, which was okay, but very messy and not practical to serve to a group. I'd recommend the cake portion but use a different type of frosting.

These cupcakes were so moist. I am not the best baker, but they came out so good. My kids even ate the cupcakes and they never eat the cupcakes, they just eat the frosting. I would definetly make them again.
