I made this recipe today for the first time and I did a double recipe because I am going to a house party. For the double recipe, I used the same amount of sugar and chocolate and it was just enough sugar and chocolate. I do love the orange zest flavor so I did add two oranges. I left some vanilla for myself and the rest I made with chocolate. I also used reduced milk and it still had a nice creamy taste! Bon Appetito!!!

This recipe came out perfectly with less sugar (I used a scant 1/2 cup and I omitted the chocolate chips, using only the unsweetened cocoa powder...thanks to the reviews. Definitely delicious!

You could also stop before adding the cocoa and chocolate for a great vanilla rice pudding. Will make this for friends again and again. Thanks Giada!

I love cholcolate and Giada's recipes. However, if I make this dish again I would use less chocolate. It over powered the taste of the vanilla and orange. I loved the taste it had prior to adding the chocolate.

Since there is a lot of reviews that is way too sweet and sometimes gummy . I did not add sugar, instead I use 3 tbsp. of Ghiardelli ground sweet chocolate for cocoa powder and the chocolate chip has is already sweet thats why I did not add the sugar. I let that melt And I used 6 cups of milk instead of 5 cups of milk and cooked it in the Rice cooker for 45 minutes then turn it off. let it sit warm to cook the rice some more. And its perfect.

Next time will just try 1 tbsp. of plain cocoa and just add more chocolate chips for its sweetness. And I used the short grain japanese rice instead of arborio rice. DO NOT USE LONG GRAIN RICE ON THIS ONE !!!

My daughter and I made this and it was a very fun process. At the stage just before adding the cocoa powder and chocolate chips I thought the pudding tasted fabulous although just a little too sweet. When we served the pudding after dinner both my dad, daughter, and I felt the chocolate overwhelmed the rest of the flavors. Texture was great, the vanilla and orange were lovely together, and we added a little white chocolate liquer. We definitley try this again with less sugar and no chocolate.

This recipe is sweet, but for someone who loves sweet and chocolate this recipe is heaven. This is good warm but is perfect served cold with fresh whip cream on top. As the episode was titled this is a an indulgence.

Sorry Giada normally I love your recipes but this is the second recipe in a row that failed for me. I will make this again but I will only use 1/2 the sugar, vanilla, milk and rice and end it there. I added the 2/3 c sugar and orange zest and it was way too sweet and too much citrus flavor! I am not a chocolate person so was not going to add the chocolate.
This recipe will be perfect with the adjustments mentioned above.
