We watched this recipe being made and had it for dinner that night. The jarred chestnuts do taste like sweet potatoes and offer a wonderful texture. Very tasty!

This recipe was wonderful, I wanted to try it before the holidays' and it would be terrific with anything, turkey, pork, prime rib, chicken, it's really great!
To answer the posted question, yes chesnuts are typically found in a jar, and they are already peeled and ready to eat, you can also buy fresh but that's so time consuming. Ask at the store if you can't locate them. They will usually put them where the holiday stuff is displayed, or in the specialty food isle!

I also would like to try this recipe. Does she mean water chestnuts? Or can you actually buy chestnuts in a can?
