I didn't have any cardamon, so I just added some pumpkin pie spice to the cinnamon to add a little extra spice. They were still fantastic!! You can probably cut the dipping sauce recipe in half. It is very sweet, so you don't need a lot of it. These look impressive, so they are perfect for a brunch or dessert for guests.

I just hate when I read and review and the writer has substitued ingredients. But I have go to tell you I really want to make these but did not have cardamom, powdered sugar and lemon. I made them without the cardamom and made a warm dipping sauce of 1/2 cup brown sugar, juice of one orange, zest of orange, and a couple of tablespoons of honey. Just put all ingredients in a small sauce pan and heated until the brown sugar melted. Oh my ! This was so delicious. I only ate two because my husband ate the remaindered. Loved it!

I loved it! Easy to make, but I add more white sugar though and didn't use the dipping sauce. It was too lemonie..so I springle some melted powdered sugar and water on top of the twist... My family and friends can't stop eating them.

    Thanks Giada!

These were very easy to make. But I didnt use Cardamam(SP? it was to expensive to buy just for this so I used orange extract. 1 tsp in the egg wash and grated 1/2 orange zest into the sugar mix and 1 tsp orange extract into the honey dipping sauce. So Awesome...Thank you!

These delicious pastries were an absolute hit with my family. I'm hosting a supper club soon and will most likely make these to accompany coffee and dessert. However, like others said the dipping sauce wasn't such a hit. But I think I added too much honey. Other than that it was a great after dinner treat!
