Refreshing.... I added a squeeze of fresh lemon and a little lemon zest. Great for a hot summer day.

This salad had great taste. I am not a fan of the anise flavor of fennel, but I will have to admit it gave the citrus a nice contrast. Might use mint instead next time, though. This makes a lovely summer salad to balance a grilled entre.

This is a great recipe! I made this for my boyfriend and me and we managed to gobble down the whole bowl. My only complaint is that a single batch does NOT make enough! The combination of flavors is unusual and surprisingly good. The dressing helps to cut through that bitterness of the fennel. I personally didn't care for all the basil that went into the dressing - next time I will only put in 1/8 cup. I didn't have the problem with the dressing being too "watery" like other reviewers mentioned; there was only a little bit of liquid left in the bottom of the bowl. I think the best part was actually the addition of the toasted walnuts - so delicious and crunchy! I will be making up big bowls of this salad over the summer - I can eat this all week long!

Absolutely one of my favorites. Can whip it out pretty quickly now. I do put in a whole fresh herb package of basil and add in 1/2 teaspoon salt to the emulsion. For the fruit use the extra large navel orange. Make sure the orange and grapefruit are heavy when picking out at the grocery store and you will have more than enough juice. I also add dill, either dry or fresh.

Loved the salad. Didn't make enough to serve our family; so put with head of chopped romaine lettuce and 1 stalk of celery. The dressing was yummy but too watery. How would you thicken it up? Definitely will be making this again but need to figure out the dressing. : Our first fennel experience.

The salad was good, refreshing and easy. I just found it difficult to segment the fruit; it wasnt as easy as Giada made it, or as neat. Great salad for summer!

I read the reviews and thought this should be good. What a disappointment. Did everyone make the same thing? I just ate the fruit and dumped the rest in the garbage. I hate when you spend a lot of money on a recipe and its bad. Save your money especially with the cost of fennel!

Such a nice change from a regular old salad. Giada is the queen of dressings- this one was so fresh and delcious I saved the extra and had it over green salad later. I love this style of segmenting the fruit too- have used it in a lot of salads since and makes it look very restaurant-y.

First time to eat fennel and I really liked it. My finished product did not look like Giada's. I used one blood orange, one navel and one grapefruit. I combined with one bulb of fennel and there just wasn't enough fruit. Guess you've just got to adjust and sizes of fruit really matter. This is very refreshing with nice textures. I will make and eat again. I can't wait to try it out on family and friends...it's very different and tasty!
