These were definitely easy to make, but I did not enjoy the taste of them at all. I generally make cake doughnuts, but I needed something fast and didn't have time to wait for hours chilling dough and then rolling them out. I also didn't think lemon zest with coffee glaze sounded appetizing, so I made a vanilla glaze to keep them light and fresh. Unfortunately, the only part I enjoyed was the vanilla glaze, but I still enjoy Giada and will try more of her recipes in the future... just not doughnuts!

Everyone keeps saying Giada makes these dishes with her mother. I only saw her mom a few times on her shows. I think you are all talking about her Aunt. Her Aunt is the funny one who always contradicts Giada's way of cooking and baking. Just so you know.

I made this recipe last week and was a little disappointed. Every recipe I've tried of Giada's is usually outstanding, but this one was just ok. The doughnut did cook up ok and wasn't raw like other reviewers, but the lemon flavor with the coffee glaze was a bit weird for me. I probably wouldn't make this recipe again.

It is obvious that everyone has differnent tastes and ideas of cooking but, to trash someone cause of how they have prospered in their field is rediculous. If you didn't like it that is all that was needed. besides I am sure that ur childish response only jared all of us that do agree that she is a great cook and her roots and new takes on classics are brilliant! Please keep ur hatred to ur self or amongst your group in UT. Love ya Giada and Keep up the good work!! YUMMMM!

I found this recipe to be a good one and can be altered with spices to suit your needs. It sounds like Kristen from SLC is a jealous person. I thought this was for reviewing the recipe, not cutting down someone who's successful, unlike Kristen.

Thought the Zeppoles were good. I really enjoy her show and think she is very thorough with cooking directions for the dish being made. I have watched her do shows w/her mom and Giada and her mom both admit they do cook a little differently...mom is old school and Giada is new school. They have fun together. ALSO KRISTEN OF SLC UT it is hard to believe a grownup would bring up physical appearances in the past to not being a good cook...there may be alot of people out there who don't tell you but don't like your cooking and/or physical appearance. However, they are not as mean as you.

..well they are easy...but they are not truly doughnuts. A
real dloughnut is a yest bread confection that is deep fried. These are 'deep fried' batter that are actually 'creme puff' ingredients. I used a simple sugar/cinnamon dusting for them and they were OK - but still not actual doughnuts. They are what they are...and eaten within an hour of making pretty good. However...if someone here has the receipe from Martha Stewart for doughnuts - prob. around 1999-2000 or so from her 'Living Magazine' I would appreciate sharing it with me - I cannot find it. Those were true doughnuts and I did make them with great success. Thanks.
