I initially made this because the combination of savory ingredients in a dessert was interestin. Since my husband and I am not fond of desserts that are so sweet they set your teeth on edge, I thought this might be worth a try. More than worth it! Fantastic!
The key for me in order to not let the syrup overpower the cake was to follow the instuction and drizzle the syrup AROUND the cake on the plate. It doesn't take much. Putting it over the top of the cake makes it way too strong. This was wonderfully moist and homey. I used a fine cornmeal and rosemary from my garden. Really good balsamic vinegar is in order.

This cake was so good. I wasnt sure if I'd like rosemary in my dessert...everyone cleaned thier plate. It was simple and delicious, I'll definately make again. Impressive enough for guests.

We really liked the cake. It was rich but beautifully textured and light. I used the cornmeal that I normaly use to make polenta and served it with a dollop of whipped cream and some fresh blackberries.

This dessert was just very very special. The rosemary and and syrupy balsamic flavors were popping magically atop the backdrop of a moist, tender, rich corn cake. I could eat it all day!!! My whole family loved it. I'd serve it to anyone special so they could feel the special.

This was more of a jazzed up cornbread to me. I did not like the Balsamic Syrup at all. Could not taste the rosemary. It looked good on TV and possibly go well with her menu, but no thanks for me. This is the first recipe of hers that I have not cared for. I have fixed quite a few and love all her pasta dishes.

This was a very dry cake and the syrup very much overpowered the taste of the cake. The cake alone would have been great if it had been more moist but the syrup was terrible! I would make it again but without the syrup and try to make it a bit more moist.

Not only did this smell delicious when it was baking but it tasted amazing. I do not have a stand mixer, so I used my hand mixer and it still came out. The balsamic syrup was good but this cake also tastes great all by itself. Definitely something I will be making again and again! Giada truly amazing thank you for this little piece of heaven.
