Delicious! Add more of the reserved water than you may think you need because the pasta absorbs it very quickly!

Great recipe! I boiled the orzo in chicken broth to give it more flavor and I also added asparagus that I had blanched and then cut up into small pieces. I also much more preferred the taste of fresh tomatoes to the canned tomatoes. With those adjustments the recipe was AMAZING!!

I enjoyed this recipe. I didn't have peas on hand, so I used carrots instead and added them with the shallots and garlic vice with the cream. I think next time I'll add even more vegetables. Perhaps zucchini, mushrooms and red peppers.

Made it for the first time, actually first time i made orzo too. Very simple and easy. I read some of the reviews and added some basil and it came out great. next time I am going to use chicken stock to cook the orzo and maybe add some mushrooms. I also like the idea of adding some chicken or shrimp. It was a hit and a nice change of pace.

This is the first time I've made an orzo recipe. I really liked the dish. I agree it can be bland, but I served it as a side with Lemon Chicken, so it worked great as a counter balance for the strong flavors in the chicken dish. I like the fire-roasted tomato idea; I'll have to try it next time.

The first time i made this it was really bland. I made it again & I cooked the orzo in chicken stock instead of water & it made a huge difference!!!

I followed the recipe above exactly and the orzo looked perfect. I spent time looking through the reviews, and the #1 complaint for those who dislike it is that the orzo came out bland. I agree. I did season it heavily with pepper & salt (and then again after I tried it, and even after that felt that it lacked a "wow" factor. So, Try #2: I still felt that the dish had potential - it just lacked in the "spice" department, so made it once more w/ modifications. I used Fire Roasted Tomatoes - this amped up the flavor. Increased the vegies and this time included mushrooms which add a nice texture to the creamy risotto-like dish. I also used a lot less orzo and added more pepper and a few red pepper flakes. Also added chicken strips. Adding a protein source to this dish helped keep me more full.

I thought this was okay, but not great. For some reason my orzo came out a little soupy.
Perhaps because this was the first time I had orzo and had to get used to the taste of it. Ended up with leftovers. The flavor was pretty good.
I give this three stars. And have decided I'm not an orzo fan.
