Outstanding soup!! Easy to make and full of flavor. It was absolutely delicious and i will make over and over again. Do not change a thing--it doesn't need any modifications!

At a Senior soup cookout, everyone took their favorite soup. I wanted something different and love sweet potatoes, so I chose this one. Everyone loved it and about twenty people asked for the receipt. It is in my "most favorite" receipts. It is so smooth and good. and even when cold it is delicious, making it a nice soup in the summer, too.
I called myself Crappycook, 1. I couldn't think of anything else, and 2. Aftr 56 years of cooking for 6, I don't like to cook. but I am hooked on Food Network and cook a lot moe now.
Thanks for all your wonderful chefs that give us the insentives to make wonderful new dishes.

Sweet potatoes are available in orange or white. The white sweet potato has a drier texture than the orange one. True yams are not widely distributed in the US. You usually have to go to an African or Asian market.

I am definitely going to try this recipe based on the rave reviews, however, I have a question. In the episode, the potatoes that Giada was using were white (which means they were Yams, not sweet potatoes, which they are deep orange in color. Is the flavor the same? I'm sure the soup would be just as "pretty" in orange, but I want to know if the flavor will be the same. Anyone?

I made this recipe exactly as written (something I like to do the first time I try a new recipe and it was DELICIOUS! Served it with a rustic honey wheat bread which was a perfect complement. My husband tried to dissuade me from making it for dinner (thought it would be too sweet but he ended up loving it! Will definitely be a keeper and a repeat in my soup repertoire.

This soup is INSANE. So good. My 2 year old daughter loves it as well as all of my friends and family. The only thing I changed was to add a bit more rosemary - I wanted it more forward in the flavor. Served this with Giada's panzanella on a cold, rainy day.
