Excellent cookies, we always make at least 1 batch with our Christmas cookies. If you can't find dried cherries, dried cranberries are a good substitute.

This was AWESOME! We didn't feel it needed the icing, though. I opted just to chill the dough, then use a cookie scoop to dish it out and flattened it w/ the bottom of a glass - MUCH less work. Next time, I'm going to substitute mini chocolate chips for the almonds - yummy!

OMGosh! Cookie heaven! I love almond, vanilla, cherries and a great butter cookie. This combines some favorites into one awesome cookie! I did not have trouble with cookie flattening too much as other reviewers indicated. I put the dough in the fridge for an overnight and it was very cold and solid when I cut it. I baked it on a heavy sheet as indicated. The cookies flattened to the perfect diameter. As per other review, I made a reduced amount of icing (one cup of powdered sugar with enough water and vanilla create right consistency and it was the perfect compliment.

This cookie has become a family favorite. You absolutely have to double the recipe.

These are so good that I wanted to immediately make another batch. I also found that it really makes a difference if you use a heavy baking sheet as the recipe suggests. I used a heavy one on the first time in the oven, and they didn't spread out as much; stayed more compact and a little taller, which made them denser and chewier. The others made on the lighter weight baking sheet were still wonderful, but spread out more. Bake until the bottoms are light golden and maybe a few golden touches on the tops where the almond pieces are. Also, definitely use the icing, drizzled in little drizzles. It takes these cookies over the top! These are my new favorite cookie. Thanks Giada!

This is the third (or fourth? year that I'm making these as part of my Christmas cookie collection. I make them a bit smaller and cut them about a 1/4" thick. Everyone loves these because that are not cloyingly sweet, but so delicious it's difficult to stop with one. A keeper!

This cookie is definitely worthy of a 5-star rating!!! A wonderful gourmet treat. I'm sure I will be making this again and again; my co-workers loved it and the rave reviews keep pouring in! Thanks Giada

I've made these several times and everyone just loves them and asks for the recipe. Usually make the almond with diced dried apriocots. This time, no apricots or cherries so I put in the grated finely peel of a large orange along with extra almonds and both vanilla and almondextract. OMG! Absolutly the best. These are cookies I make for gifts and never have missed the mark.

These are fabulous cookies! I sent them out for Christmas pressies and the family LOVED them. I was told they traveled well. I can't wait to try the apricot and pine nut version.. thinking I might try using a white chocolate drizzle for that batch instead of the vanilla icing.
