This is something similar to what my Grandfather taught me to make. The phyllo crust makes for a nicer, more delicate pie. I think it is best served at room temperature. The ingredient amounts are different in Giada's book...I went by the cookbook amounts.

Not too sweet, creamy and delicious! A little too many pignoli nuts for me, next time I think I'll use half the amount and sprinkle them on top instead of incorporating them into the mix. Gotta try it!

I made this yesterday - we had my parents over for Easter dinner. I wanted something traditional Italian for my mom, and we both love Italian cheesecake so I gave it a shot.
It's light and not too sweet - the phyllo makes for a much less dense dessert than the traditional easter pie (or the cheesecake for that mattter. My first time using phyllo - no problem (and I did not need a damp cloth. Like another reviewer I too only found narrow sheets so I used twice the amount. Still a delicious butter crust.
The only thing I wasn't sure of was that the pie does have a strong orange flavor. Never been the most skilled 'zester' so perhaps I did something wrong. Still and all, lovely to look at, lovely to eat - I will devinitely make it again. Thanks Giada!

This is a great breakfast/brunch pie to have with coffee or tea. The orange flavor really came through and the nuts and rice gave it a nice touch. Yummy for a gal get-together.

I love cooking for my friends. When I made this pie, serveral of my italian friends said how much this pie reminded them of their grandmothers cooking, and thanked me for making it.

Thanks Giada! It's a really simple, yet very delicious dessert.

I made this for Easter dessert tonight and we loved it. It was flaky and easy to make, and the texture and taste were incredible. I will definately make this again.

This receipe is quick and delicious. The filling is creamy and the nuts give it just the right crunch. It is perfect for a light desert or brunch.

Sorry, not much more to say. This was easy enough to make, but it was so, so, so very bland. Just not worth any effort at all. Sorry.

This dessert has no comparisn to the Easter pie my grandmother always makes! This Easter pie gave just the right kick to the end of our easter dinner. The kids even got to help out with this one. I strongly recommend this for any new tryers. The taste was just excuisate with the creaminess. You have to place a damp towel over the phyllo or else it will come out soggy not flaky.
