I made these for a party and I have to be honest, these were WAY too much for me and when they were done I almost tossed them. But my Mom and husband said they were "To Die For"...hmmm. I think this must be a case of tasters/over-tasters, whatever....the tray was cleared and I got 5 email requests for the recipe...so I guess they were a hit. I liked them better w/o the frosting, I don't think the espresson needs to be in both. So go for it!

I?ve never heard of ?espresso powder? and could NOT find it in stores (Kroger, Wal-Mart, Food City, etc in the Knoxville, TN area.
Does she mean coffee beans ground to an espresso grind ?
OR
Does she mean something more like instant coffee crystals, only it?s espresso ?
I didn't have any "espresso powder"...so instead of plain water I added strong auto-drip brewed coffee.
Also, the only regular Duncan Hines brownie mix I could find was 21 oz and the regular Betty Crocker was 18 oz. Actually, I couldn?t find any ?19.8 ounce? boxes of any brand. Will this affect the recipe any ?
Even with my minor tweak, the brownies were out of this world and so easy to make. Just Heavenly.

I make this recipe for everything and everyone LOVES it. To make it a little more special I put chocolate covered espresso beans on top and a little powdered sugar.

Overall I thought this recipe was a great variation on regular brownies, especially for coffee lovers. I agree with other viewers that the brownies do not need the recommended cooking time (mine were completely ready in 25 min. My only complaint is that when I prepared the icing it was just a big glob and I needed to add extra water until the appropriate consistency was achieved--I don't understand because I followed the recipe to the tea. Any suggestions?

Easy, has lots of flavor, and great for coffee & chocolate lovers! The brownies were dense and rich-just the way brownies should be. I added just a little more chocolate chips then it called for since I love chocolate. I already have friends asking me to make it again.
